Much Appreciated McKinnon CC Patrons

Part of the success of McKinnon CC continuing as an ongoing treasure to its members is the support and much admired backing of people such as former players, presidents and volunteers. We’d like to take this opportunity to recognise three great contributors as part of the Coterie Group that Russ Dowling coordinates.

Club Patron – Alan Copsey

Alan has been a stalwart of our club since joining the club as a junior player in the early 1960s and was captain of our Under 16A team. He went on to represent the club at 1st XI level as a very accomplished high order batsman and later was captain of our 3rd XI for many years. Alan, who had a successful career as a Commercial Lawyer, is a past Secretary and was made a Life Member of the club in 1974. He has always been a staunch supporter of the club and in recent years Alan has contributed significantly with generous annual donations in support of our Club Fundraising Group.

Club Patron – Ken Dowling

Ken is a distinguished member of our club, being a Life Member, Past President, Club Legend and was selected in the McKinnon Team of the Century. Ken began his career at McKinnon in the mid-1950s as an all-rounder and became a key player in the club’s 1st XI, having won the 1st XI Bowling Average on 6 occasions. All of this was achieved whilst forging a successful professional career in Local Government where he was City Engineer of the City Malvern and then appointed CEO of the City of St Kilda. Ken has always been a great supporter of the club and in fact launched the Past Players Club over a decade ago now. We sincerely thank him for his most significant and generous donations in recent years.

Club Patron – Ashley Collins

Ash, who recently came on board as a Patron of the club, currently lives in San Francisco with his wife Tracey. Ash is a former 1st XI wicketkeeper and is a Past President of our club. Whether Ash has lived abroad or in Melbourne he has been a huge supporter of McKinnon Cricket Club and always the life of the party. Ash loves travelling and is a keen and very accomplished photographer. We sincerely thank Ash for his very generous donation.
